    Neither of these qualifies as a good Thesis Statement because readers cannot tell from your claim whether you approve or disapprove of FRS. You might very well regard it as “amazing” but advocate that it not be used at all or not be used in specific circumstances. Your second claim is just as ambiguous. FRS is indeed used to indict people of crimes, but does it get the criminal, or does it falsely indict innocent citizens because of inefficiencies in the program? You don’t say.

    Possible alternatives to your sentences would include:
    1. FRS is an exciting and indispensable tool for law enforcement to bring criminals to justice.
    2. The better FRS becomes at distinguishing individuals, the safer it becomes as a tool for law enforcement.
    3. Like lie detector tests, FRS isn’t good enough yet to convict on the basis of facial IDs alone, but they provide excellent corroborating evidence.

    There are a few potential benefits to using facial recognition software to prevent and solve crimes, but there are many concerns about the privacy, safety and legislation concerning the use of this technology.
