Core Value 1. My work demonstrates that I used a variety of social and interactive practices that involve recursive stages of exploration, discovery, conceptualization, and development.

Throughout the course of the semester, in class we utilized things such as writing plans and drafts that allowed for students to get feedback from the professor and make vital changes to their papers and continue to edit through out the semester to improve their writing. One thing that we did that also allowed for new discovery and feedback from from peer review sessions where our peers would review our articles and writings and offer feedback which is important because its feed back from our peers and a different point of view. One of the things we created was a writing plan for our op ed where we prepared to write before actually writing and getting our thoughts and ideas down on a document.

Core Value 2. My work demonstrates that I read critically, and that I placed texts into conversation with one another to create meaning by synthesizing ideas from various discourse communities.

Its important that when a author or editor is creating a writing document, they understand how to read something that is very detailed and know how to comprehend that information given to them and apply it to their own writing. While reading my classmates work, it also allows form e to see things that we do similar and mistakes that we all come across and ways that we can fix those mistakes. The one piece of writing that allowed for me to demonstrate my skills of advanced reading and application was my Op-Ed piece. This is because of the amount of time it took to read and apply things that are important for the piece.

Core Value 3. My work demonstrates that I rhetorically analyzed the purpose, audience, and contexts of my own writing and other texts and visual arguments.

Knowing how to find the purpose in an article and in the writing that I am creating as an author is very important to know how to pull in the reader and get them to stay focused and want to continue to read. One piece that allowed for me to move forward and find analyzed information that I read was my Letter to the Editor. In my LTE I needed to read the original article to the best of my ability and try to uncover any underlying information that may help or harm my piece. Researching specific topics and narrowing down the list of possibilities is also very important for the details of a LTE.

Core Value 4: My work demonstrates that I have met the expectations of academic writing by locating, evaluating, and incorporating illustrations and evidence to support my own ideas and interpretations

Throughout the whole semester, I focused on topics that are talked about within my friend groups and topics that are very controversial at times through out the year. One piece that demonstrates this best would be my Op-Ed writing. In this assignment, I researched for articles and information that best supports my writing through hard evidence that was found on the internet and news articles that have happened in the past. Finding support from other articles to support my topic is important because this allowed for myself to understand what is good and what is not detailed enough.

Core Value 5. My work demonstrates that I respect my ethical responsibility to represent complex ideas fairly and to the sources of my information with appropriate citation.

I believe that the piece that best supports this core value is my Letter to the Editor. In my LTE I discussed how there are certain assessments created to stereotype employees working in a company. It is meant to show best who could work together and who may not be able to work with each other. Researching the topic allowed for me to find topics and support that would show me complex ideas that are fairly supportive.
