Core Value 1. My work demonstrates that I used a variety of social and interactive practices that involve recursive stages of exploration, discovery, conceptualization, and development.

Throughout the semester of College Comp 1, the class have drafts and writing plans to get feedback from the professor or possibly even from classmates. We could get as much feedback as we want until the feedback is not allowed. Getting feedback from the professor or our peers is great because they could have different point of views of what could be improved. One of my work that demonstrates the core value was the Op-Ed for Portfolio(The comments were meant for the Op-Ed), I got feedback from the professor and classmates and try to implement all of their feedback into to writing.

Core Value 2. My work demonstrates that I read critically, and that I placed texts into conversation with one another to create meaning by synthesizing ideas from various discourse communities.

Placing texts with on another to create meaning is important because writers would not like to have a piece that has claims all over the place confusing the readers. The piece that I think demonstrates the core value was the Letter to the Editor. I has experience with the topic I was writing about and read many different articles on the subject. I also analyze different types of LTEs and see how they write their own LTEs to implement into my own LTE Draft and Portfolio.

Core Value 3. My work demonstrates that I rhetorically analyzed the purpose, audience, and contexts of my own writing and other texts and visual arguments.

Editorials are perfect for core value 3, it analyze the purpose and uses other texts and visuals to boost the credibility of the editorials. The editorials can persuade the readers into the writers views. I read many articles and looked up topics I was interested in and come up with an opinion. Based off the opinion I would make argument statement and back it up with evidence that would try to persuade readers to my side.

Core Value 4: My work demonstrates that I have met the expectations of academic writing by locating, evaluating, and incorporating illustrations and evidence to support my own ideas and interpretations.

Research is important because you wouldn’t want any false information in your writing. Another thing you could research is if your side of the topic has been written before and write about the topic with full power on your opinion. The Op-Ed was the best example of the core value. I researched a lot on the topic and had a source in the paragraph. My topic was not talked a lot about so I had a decent amount of power in my Op-Ed and could come up with opinions myself and try to show how a little machine that measures the amount of alcohol in ones body could affect our society.

Core Value 5. My work demonstrates that I respect my ethical responsibility to represent complex ideas fairly and to the sources of my information with appropriate citation.

Having sources are really important and citing them are important for the professor and the reader. They could read the article and choose a side on the topic the author is writing about. Citing a source helps determine if the writing is ethical or not. The ethical responsibility every writer should have is to not plagiarize. The writing plan is the best example for this. There is a thesis statement that I written with background evidence from the sources that I cited and some sources that I haven’t found but would like to find to help my argument. Being ethical responsible is on top of my list whenever I write a Op-Ed, Editorial, or anything.
