Reflective – Imagination

Core Value 1. My work demonstrates that I used a variety of social and interactive practices that involve recursive stages of exploration, discovery, conceptualization, and development.

I had always used the opportunity of receiving feedback from Professor Hodges when writing my drafts. The feedback was very specific and understandable and helped me fix it to make it better. Feedback not only helped make my drafts better but also made me become a better a writer. The first draft I made, LTE Draft, I received a lot of feedback. It was my first time experiencing the feedback process and how I can use that feedback to continue to ask for help. Receiving feedback has helped me maintain the same topic of idea without changing it while editing. The feedback process helped me develop and build more ideas to better my writing.

Core Value 2. My work demonstrates that I read critically, and that I placed texts into conversation with one another to create meaning by synthesizing ideas from various discourse communities.

In order to assemble enough information to make a great argument I had to do a lot of research. In my Editorial, I had to absorb information about my topic and be able to exemplify my argument without being bias. I was able to back up my opinion with information sought in different sources that I have read. I strongly expressed my thoughts and demonstrated my views on the topic.

Core Value 3. My work demonstrates that I rhetorically analyzed the purpose, audience, and contexts of my own writing and other texts and visual arguments.

I believe my Editorial best demonstrated this core value. I was extremely passionate about my topic and it’s importance to me. I needed to persuade the audience the side I was strongly for. In order to connect with my readers and make them feel how I feel about the topic, I had to use rhetorical elements.

Core Value 4: My work demonstrates that I have met the expectations of academic writing by locating, evaluating, and incorporating illustrations and evidence to support my own ideas and interpretations.

When writing, it is important to provide strong pieces of evidence when writing for it to be effective in my arguments. In my writing plan, I found different strong sources to help me write my Op-Ed. Using these different sources, I pulled evidence and facts that I knew would be useful in my writing.

Core Value 5. My work demonstrates that I respect my ethical responsibility to represent complex ideas fairly and to the sources of my information with appropriate citation.

It is important to site your ideas and facts that come from other sources. The Op-Ed fits this core value best. I had to site my sources for the audience to know where my ideas and pieces of evidence had came from. It is always important to show others ideas that you use in your writing especially if it helps you originate other ideas.
